The Advent Wreath

Mary, The Ark of God's Covenant

Today's Mass is a great song to the everlasting love of God
revealed in his covenant with his people. We praise the
mystery of his love kept secret for endless ages, but now
revealed through a new ark of the covenant, Mary, the Mother of God.

MIDNIGHT MASS

My Dear Friends,

This Sunday afternoon at 3 pm we shall celebrate our annual service of "Carols before Christmas". This is always a very special way for us to prepare for the coming feast. The Christmas raffle will be drawn in the hall after this service; do come along! There is to be a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie as well - yet another reason to be there.

The day after Christmas Day is St Stephen's Day - the patron saint of all altar servers. We are very blessed here at St. Greg's to have a growing 'army' of servers. This is the day when those who have been training over the last months to become altar servers are formally enrolled and receive their medals. Do come and support them and join us for a cup of coffee and a mince pie (if you can face just one more!) after the Mass of Enrolment on Boxing Day morning.

Do be sure to take home with you, at the end of Mass today, the special Christmas services leaflet. On that you will find all the details of the coming Masses. Included also is an extensive list of dates for people to make their confession before the feast! Please remember how important it is for all of us to prepare fully for the Birth of the Christ.

My prayer for us all at this time of year is that we may all have a truly holy and blessed Christmas, and that we may truly welcome the Christ child into our hearts and homes. May Christ be the unseen guest at your table.

God Bless.

CHRISTMAS DAY

The Gospel on Christmas morning is brought to us by the children on the parish in the form of a tableau. Each year we seem to fall short of our "host" of angels. So if you have a child who is itching to be a little angel(!!) or any of the other characters, please come along to the rehearsal on Christmas Eve morning at 11 am. This should take about an hour.

THE GIVING TREE

It would be greatly appreciated if any further gifts for the Giving Tree could be delivered by the end of this weekend. This will allow Theresa and her family to distribute them before the feast. Thank you for your generosity.

CHRISTMAS POSTERS!!

Christmas posters are available in the porch this weekend. Do take one to display in your window to witness to the world that without Christ there is no Christmas!

COFFEE

There will be coffee and soft drinks available in the Hall after the 10 am Sunday morning Mass. Do come along and join us if you can. This is an excllent way for us to get to know one another better.

See you there!
