My Dear Friends,

This weekend brings to an end the formal Christmas season and our tree etc., will be taken down after the evening Mass on Sunday. The crib will remain in place until the feast of Candlemass, which according to the old calendar ended the season. In line with our Cathedral and St Peter's in Rome the crib will help us to continue to focus on the wonder of the Incarnation.

As I mentioned last weekend we should be looking actively at ways to increase our commitment to our faith and I would like to suggest that one area we might all look at is our life of prayer. Surely it is possible for all of us to get to Mass at least once during the week? Perhaps there is a church near to where you work that has a lunchtime Mass, or perhaps you could get down to St Greg's on a weekday morning at 10 am? Do think about this seriously, for be assured it will 'light up your life'.

Next weekend is the annual 'white flower' appeal. This annual collection allows us to do something to assist those who strive to wipe out the wickedness of abortion in our 'civilised' society. It is also Peace Sunday in our Catholic Church and as our Holy Father has said in his World Peace Day message, we must remember that the struggle for peace must begin in our hearts.

God Bless.

THE GIVING TREE

Once again the 'giving tree' has proved to be an enormous success. Thank you, to so many of you, for your support of this simple yet profound way of reaching out to those in need in our society. The gifts have been very gratefully received. Thanks must also go to the Sullivan family for all their hard work in organising this and distributing the gifts.

CONFIRMATION AWAY-DAY

A reminder to all our Confirmation Candidates that this Sunday (8th January) is their special "away-day" at London Colney. You will need to be outside St Gregory's Church by 9.00 am. Please do not be late you have a busy day ahead.
