Holy Hour and Benediction

My Dear Friends,

The annual collection for the "Westminster Ecclesiastical Education Fund" will be taken up at all Masses this weekend, and it is vital that we support the appeal as ten men started training as priests last year, compared with three in 2004 and two in 2002.

This is very encouraging news, but the preparation of new priests takes six years and depends on your donations. So please be as generous as you can.

We are very blessed in our diocese to have this increasing number of men offering themselves for the priesthood. Our need for them is very great, so let us be sure to give them our support!

I would like to draw your attention to the letter I have had from our local MP Nick Hurd, and which I have pinned up in the porch. I think that his response is quite encouraging and am glad that he has committed himself to not voting for any such bill! If you haven't signed the petition be sure to do so today.

Have a truly blessed week,

ASSISTED DYING BILL

Lord Joffe's bill is to be debated in the House of Lords this week. Please sign the petition which is in the church porch to register your disapproval of the proposal.
