The Temptation of Christ

The Good News of the Covenant

At the beginning of Lent we renew our response to the Covenant,
the pact of love that God made with each of us at our baptism.
Imagine what good news it must have been to Noah, when he
learned that God's love had not abandoned His creation.

My Dear Friends,

Last Wednesday we began the joyful season of Lent together, and it was good to see so many coming to receive the ashes on that day! Now we shall journey on towards the 'great week' of the Christian year, and then on to Easter. I do hope that we will take advantage of the many opportunities available to us to draw closer to Christ.

Please note that we shall be making the Stations of the Cross each Friday evening at 7 pm, and there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on Wednesday and Saturday mornings; so that we may spend time in prayer with the Lord Jesus.

Our diocesan Lent discussion course - Christ Among Us - will begin after Mass on Monday and will be repeated after the Stations on Friday. I do hope some of you will be able to come along to these sessions? They should last a little over an hour.

You will no doubt have spotted that the new church lighting is now fully functional and that the quality of sound is also being reviewed and improved. The lighting is certainly a wonderful improvement and no doubt we shall be used to the new brightness in no time at all.

We have once again had to replace one of the heaters - please do NOT attempt to switch them of at the wall - this is what has caused the old ones to fail and has literally cost us thousands of pounds!!

Have a truly blessed week,

"Open Your Heart To the Word of the Lord"
