"You Are Peter And On This Rock I Will Build My Church"

Peter The Rock

We rejoice today that Christ chose Peter in spite of his human failings
to be the rock on which he built his Church. The Reason for that choice
lies in the unfathomable depth of God's wisdom.

My Dear Friends,

Just another reminder that on Bank Holiday Monday (29th August) we shall be having our special parish 'working party'. This will help us to get everything ready for our festival day on September 4th, when once again we shall give thanks to Almighty God for the life and example of our patron, St. Gregory the Great. The working party will begin after Mass at about 10.30 am - drinks, and hopefully snacks, will be provided to sustain the workers!

Also that weekend, Gillian and Charlotte Harrington will be doing the "Hydro Active Women's Challenge" in Hyde Park. The focus of this charity action this year is to be "Breakthrough Breast Cancer" research. Naturally they are looking for sponsors and with this in mind they will be outside church after all Masses this weekend.

God Bless.

ALI'S DREAM

This is a final reminder for outstanding sponsor monies. Please ring me (David Cullen) on 020 8868 3073 if I miss you after Mass and I will be happy to collect from you at home. Thank you for your support.

ST. GREGORY'S DAY

As usual we shall be celebrating our Feast of Title on the Sunday nearest to the feast. Mass on September 4th will be at 11 am. During this Mass our Eucharistic Ministers will be re-commissioned and our 1st Communion Children will lead the Procession before Benediction at the end of Mass. Please make a note of the date and time now, and sign the lists in the porch if you can help out on the day with food or time! Many thanks.

ST. COLUMBA'S COLLEGE

Old Boys of the college are invited to a 50th Anniversary Dinner at the college on Saturday 3rd September. Please apply to Br. Paul Vaillancourt at 8 King Harry Lane, St Albans, AL3 4AW for further details

1st RECONCILIATION AND 1st HOLY COMMUNION

Parents of children hoping to make their 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion in 2005/2006 are asked to collect a registration form from the church porch and to return the completed application to the Presbytery as soon as possible. These forms are for children who will be in Year 3 (or above) from September 2005.
