"Take Up Your Cross And Follow me"

Christ Who Overcame The
Reluctance Of The Flesh

It comes as no surprise that the Prophet Jeremiah felt reluctance
to offer himself as a living sacrifice to God's will, because we experience
the same reluctance to accept the cross. But what consolation it is to know
that Christ experienced the same reluctance and had to struggle to overcome it.

My Dear Friends,

Just a final reminder that this Monday we are having our special parish 'working party' to help us get everything ready for our festival weekend. The working party will begin after Mass at about 10.30 am - drinks, and hopefully snacks, will be provided to sustain the workers! Please pray for fine weather for the 4th September!

It has been a few months now since we had our "Stewardship Renewal Campaign" and although it is still early days the results appear to be quite encouraging - more about this later.

One thing that was set-aside during that time was the annual diocesan collection for WEEF - the Westminster Ecclesiastical Education Fund. The future of the Church depends on enough men responding to the Lord's call to become a Priest. The money collected helps to train those in our diocese who have come forward - our seminarians. This fund is therefore of the very greatest importance.

The parish finance committee do not intend to take up this collection formally this year, but collection envelopes will be handed out at all Masses this weekend, which I hope you will feel able to return with a donation over the next few Sundays. I do hope you will think and pray about this very carefully.

God Bless.

ST. GREGORY'S DAY

The morning Parish Mass next Sunday will be at 11 am. During this Mass our Special Ministers of the will be re-commissioned and our 1st Communion Children will lead the Procession before Benediction at the end of Mass. Please make a note of the date and time now, and sign the lists in the porch if you can help out on the day with food or time! Many thanks.
