The Generous Love of God

The love of God cannot be measured by any human standard
By human reckoning it must appear foolish, for what employer
would behave like the man in today's gospel? We see a reflection
of that in St. Paul's dilemma. He loved so much that he could not
decide whether it was better to live or to die.

My Dear Friends,

Mr Campbell has asked me to thank the parish for its kindness in supplying a new picture, to hang in the school hall, of our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI. It had arrived recently from Rome and was blessed at the opening Mass of the school year. A similar image may be seen in the church hall.

Today is Home Mission Sunday, a day of prayer for the spreading of the gospel in England and Wales. There will be a second collection this weekend for the Catholic Agency to Support Evangelisation. CASE also runs the Catholic Enquiry Office, offering free information about the Catholic faith.

The Passage has sent an invitation to all members of the parish to a service of Thanksgiving to mark its Silver Jubilee. The service will be held at the Cathedral on Thursday of this week. The service which will include organ music, reflections and readings by Anthony Andrews, Anne Widdecombe, Deborah Moore and Edward Stourton. All are most welcome.

The service will be followed by a reception in the Cathedral Hall. Tickets £15 by phone on 7592 1856 or tickets@passage.org.uk.

Parents children preparing for 1st reconciliation and 1st holy Communion are asked to note that classes begin in the Church hall this Saturday morning at 9 am - please be prompt.

God Bless.
