Ss. Peter and Paul, Apostles and Martyrs
June 29th

Welcoming Christ.

We welcome Christ today as the woman of Shunem welcomed Elisha.
But the Christ we welcome is the Christ who gave his life for others.
Our celebration would be a mockery if we were not prepared to
welcome Him in one another.

1st Mass of Sunday with Children's Liturgy

My Dear Friends,

It is always great to go on holiday, but it is always nice to come back home. It is good to be back, and I am most grateful to Fr. Vincent for his time amongst us. I have no doubt that we shall be able to lure him back!

Wednesday of this week is the solemn feast day of Ss. Peter and Paul. As such it is a Holy Day of Obligation, and we must all be at Mass on that day. There will be Mass at 9 am, which will be followed almost immediately at 10 am. by a Mass that will be attended by the children from St Swithun Wells - all are most welcome to come along to this Mass to help further the links between the school and the parish. There will also be Mass at 8.00 pm.

Please note that the annual "Peter's Pence" collection to aid the charitable works of our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI will be taken up this weekend.

Those who are sick or frail deserve our particular care. Next Sunday is the special "Day for Life 2005" advocated by the Bishop's Conference, when we shall focus on them. If you haven't received a special leaflet about this very important day collect one at the end of Mass.

God Bless.
