"Jesus Feeds The Five Thousand"

The Lord Who Feeds Us

Today we celebrate the great love of God that not only
gives us life, but also sustains that life with the food of

My Dear Friends,

As we gather for Mass this weekend a large candle burns in Lourdes for the life and witness our parish. About 1200 members of the Diocese of Westminster gathered with our Cardinal and the auxiliary Bishops, for the annual Diocesan Pilgrimage. It was, I believe, one of the most joyful and prayerful pilgrimages I have had the good fortune to be part of for many years.

No doubt many, many prayers were offered for families and friends and amongst those were my own for us here at South Ruislip. But we also looked further afield and prayed, in a very focused way, for the needs of our world and city; for many who were in Lourdes had been caught up in the violence that has come into the lives of us all in these last few weeks, and it was good to reflect together on love and forgiveness. Perhaps next year there will be even more of us, which would be truly wonderful.

On 29th August we shall be having another parish 'working party'. This will help us to get everything ready for our festival weekend the following week. Do make a note of the time of Mass on September 4th now - 11 am; inevitably there are people who turn up at 10 am!!

Further to this we shall need to begin co-ordinating the catering etc., for St Gregory's day - can you help out there will be lists at the back of the church from next Saturday.

God Bless.
