My Dear Friends,

It is a wonderful thing to be away on holiday, but it is always good to be back home!!

As always I am deeply grateful to Fr Edy for "holding the fort" whilst I've been away - I do not know what we would do without him! Thank you Father, and although you will be going home later this week - hurry back!

At the back of the church this weekend there is a list for all those who wish to come with the Altar Servers to Walsingham on the 3rd September. There will be no morning Mass here on that day so that we may all get to the shrine in good time for the Solemn Mass to be celebrated their by Abp Longley.

I'd also like to remind you that it is during that Mass that our own Peter Barker will receive his 'gold medal' for 50 years service at the altar here at St Gregory the Great! It is richly deserved and something of an honour for us all, so I do hope many will come along and join us. The cost, for non servers, will be about £10 a head.

The new edition of the Westminster Record is on sale in the porch - be sure to get your copy today.

God Bless.

BANNEUX NOTRE DAME PILGRIMAGE

Join us on the Feast of the Assumption for a few days of peace and tranquillity at the shrine of Our Lady from 11th/16th August. Cost £380. More details: Maria Hare 01895 420753.

EAST AFRICA CRISIS APPEAL

Ten million people are facing a devastating drought in Africa, and the United Nations has described the situation as the worst drought conditions in the last 60 years and CAFOD says that this is the worst drought in living memory. There will be a retiring collection after all Masses this weekend. Please let us help to deliver life-saving
