THE TREASURE WE HAVE FOUND

Solomon prayed for the wisdom to discern the true
value of things. We scarcely need the wisdom of Solomon
to realise that in finding the love of God and His Kingdom
we have found a treasure beyond price. It is in the joy of
this realisation that we hold our celebration today.

My Dear Friends,

It is with real joy that we welcome Fr Vincent Oates of the Association for the Propagation of the Faith to the parish this weekend. He will speak to us at every Mass about the vital work that his order does in proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world.

The APF assists each and every one of the Catholic Church's 1,062 mission dioceses and territories to provide pastoral care and preach the Gospel effectively, and enables its supporters to live out their own missionary vocation and to take an active part in the universal mission of the Church.

Funds for the Missions are collected through the famous Red collection Boxes. These can be found in 200,000 homes and they have helped raise millions of pounds for the missions. There will, of course, be a retiring collection at the end of all the Masses to support the society in its work. Thank you for your support.

Fr Vincent has very kindly agreed to stay on at the presbytery for all of this week whilst I am away in Lourdes with the Diocese. I know you will make Father very welcome.

Finally let me assure you that whilst I am away in Lourdes this week I will remember all of you there in prayer and thanksgiving.

God Bless.
