CHRIST WHO IS EVERYTHING AND IN EVERYTHING

Today our thoughts are on heavenly things,
not the things of earth where without
Christ all is vanity and great injustice.

My Dear Friends,

It is my particular joy to welcome to the parish this weekend Dr Seamus O'Brien, the area secretary to Aid to the Church in Need. He will be speaking to us at every Mass about the amazing and wonderful work that this organisation does in many areas of the world. I have no doubt that what he has to say will inspire us. To help the work of ACN there will be a retiring collection after all Masses.

I would also draw your attention to the slight alteration in Mass venues this coming week.

On Wednesday of this week there is to be the first national outing of the Archconfraternity of St Stephen (the altar servers guild) and naturally a number of us are going along. In all well over 700 altar servers will be enjoying a well-earned day out together. The coach for Alton Towers will leave at 7 am sharp. Don't be late!

Mass on Wednesday morning therefore will be at the church of the Sacred Heart.

Looking ahead. On 27th August we shall be having another parish 'working party' around the church. This will be so that everything may be just so for our festival weekend the following week. Don't forget that the morning Mass on Sunday 2nd September will be at 11 am!!

God Bless.

OUR PATRONAL FESTIVAL

2nd September 2007. Help is required in organising this special day. There will be a meeting in the hall at 8 pm on Monday 20th August for all who can help out. Do consider coming along. MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK!!

CHURCH CLEANERS

There is always need for more people to help clean the church on Saturday morning, but during the summer hols the need is even greater. Please consider giving of your time to this important task.

1st RECONCILIATION AND 1st HOLY COMMUNION

Parents of children hoping to make their 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion in 2007/2008 are asked to collect a registration form from the church porch and to return the completed application to the Presbytery before 16th September. These forms are for children who will be in Year 3 (or above) from September 2007.

THERE IS COFFEE IN THE PARISH HALL AFTER THE MORNING MASS ON SUNDAY, DO COME AND JOIN US!!
