My Dear Friends,

Next week, 121 Pilgrims from across Westminster diocese will be travelling to Spain to celebrate World Youth Day. Over 2 million young people are expected to celebrate their Catholic faith with the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI. Please keep our pilgrims in your prayers and pray that this experience will encourage them to play a more active part in their parish communities.

During the summer I'm always a concerned that our daily Mass attendance may decline, but thankfully that has not been the case this year. However, I do wonder if these summer mornings are not also a great opportunity for more of us to begin to adopt the practice of getting to Mass on a weekday - for after all - God is not simply for Sundays!!

Finally, Peter Masterson has asked me to pass on his grateful thanks to all of you for your love and prayerful support during the time that he has been ill. It is a real joy to see Peter back at Mass and we continue to pray for his return to full health and vigour.

God Bless.

UNDERSTANDING THE REVISED MASS TEXTS

There are now plenty more of these special booklets on sale in the porch. It is now only six weeks before we start using the new translation and Fr Paul Turner's explanation of the new translation is both informative and insightful. Make sure you get your copy today!! Just £1 each!

FEAST OF ST GREGORY THE GREAT - Sunday, September 4th

As usual we shall be celebrating our Feast of Title on the Sunday nearest to the feast. At Mass - which is at 11 am on the Sunday morning - our Eucharistic Ministers will be re-commissioned and our 1st Communion Children will lead the Procession of the Blessed Sacrament at the end of Mass. Please make a note of the date and time now, and sign the lists in the porch if you can help out on the day with gifts of food or your time! Many thanks - so let's really make this a joyful family occasion.

1st RECONCILIATION AND 1st HOLY COMMUNION

Parents of children hoping to make their 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion in 2011/2012 are asked to collect a registration form from the church porch and to return the completed application to the Presbytery as soon as possible. Forms are for children who will be in Year 3 (or above) from September 2011.

DON'T FORGET! THERE IS COFFEE IN THE PARISH HALL AFTER THE MORNING MASS ON SUNDAY.
SEE YOU THERE!!
