My Dear Friends,

Dr Seamus O'Brien, from Aid to the Church in Need, has written to thank us for our generosity and support. The retiring collection brought in £884 and with the sale of items outside the church, the total was closer to £1,000. Truly a wonderful amount!

Further to this, it is time for us to collect the parish Red Boxes on behalf of the APF - the Mill Hill missionaries. If you have a Red Box at home please bring it along to Mass or drop it into the presbytery; please do not leave them in the porch!

Wednesday of this week is the Feast of the Assumption and a Holy Day of Obligation. Sadly there are very few Holy Days left in the calendar ~ thus all the more reason for us to observe well those that are left. Holy Days are one of the defining aspects of being a Catholic and we are obliged to be at Mass on such days. There will be two Masses here, at 10 am and 8 pm. I do hope that we will be able to give due honour to our Blessed Lady on this great day. If at all possible we shall sing at the evening Mass.

Looking ahead. On 27th August we shall be having a parish 'working party' around the church, so that everything may be just so for our festival weekend. Don't forget that the morning Mass on Sunday 2nd September will be at 11 am!!

God Bless.

OUR PATRONAL FESTIVAL

2nd September 2007. Help is required in organising this special day. There will be a meeting in the hall at 8 pm on Monday 20th August for all who can help out. Do consider coming along. MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK!!

THE MONDAY CLUB

Unfortunately we are having to look for a new co-ordinator for the Monday Club. If you are able to take on this important role speak to Fr Dennis or Gillian as soon as possible. If no-one comes forward it may be very difficult for the club to open, so please do consider this matter very seriously.

1st RECONCILIATION AND 1st HOLY COMMUNION

Parents of children hoping to make their 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion in 2007/2008 are asked to collect a registration form from the church porch and to return the completed application to the Presbytery before 16th September. These forms are for children who will be in Year 3 (or above) from September 2007.

THERE IS COFFEE IN THE PARISH HALL AFTER THE MORNING MASS ON SUNDAY, DO COME AND JOIN US!!
