"The Temptation of Christ"

Jesus Is Lord

Today we praise God for the marvellous
things he did for our fathers, with his
mighty hand and outstretched arm.
What he did for them he still does for us,
in Jesus the Lord who conquered sin and death.

My Dear Friends,

I would like to begin this week by thanking the large numbers of people who came along last Sunday afternoon for our 'special needs' Mass. Truly it was a Spirit filled occasion and the Lord was in this place! Thank you for your support; and well done to all those who organised this very special event.

On Wednesday we began the season of Lent, and it was good to see so many coming to be 'ashed'. Now we shall journey on towards the 'greatest week' of the Christian year. I do hope that we will take advantage of the many opportunities available to us to draw closer to Christ.

With this in mind we shall make the Stations of the Cross each Friday evening at 7 pm, and there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on both Wednesday and Saturday morning. Do take the opportunity of spending some time in prayer with the Lord Jesus.

I had hoped to announce the start of our Lent Study groups this weekend, but unfortunately someone has helped themselves to the clip-board and list from the porch so I've had no way of arranging a suitable time to meet! Let's get together after the Stations of the Cross next Friday. Sorry about this!

This Lent CAFOD invites us to take up the challenge to "Live Simply". This Friday, the Lent family fast day, CAFOD invites us to fast as an act of solidarity with the poor and to donate what we have saved to help the disadvantaged of our world. Be sure to take an Fast Day envelope home with you and return it to Mass next Sunday.

God Bless.
