My Dear Friends,

In just three weeks time we will be celebrating the Feast of St Gregory the Great, and details about the time of Mass etc. are on this newsletter.

It is always a great day and hopefully we'll see some decent weather after what has been a miserable summer! But such a celebration involves a huge amount of help and preparation. So please do consider signing one or more of the lists in the porch. Help will be needed both in setting up at the beginning of the day, serving during the day, and clearing up at the end of the day; to say nothing of food! Let's make this a truly joyful and blessed celebration and have a wonderful day together!

Finally, the time before every Mass, and especially on Saturday and Sunday, is a precious time of preparation for the Sacrament we are about to receive and should be marked by prayer and an atmosphere of sacred stillness, and not by general chit-chat!! Furthermore we should also consider the feelings of those - trying to pray.

If we are to instil this lesson into our children we, as adults, must set them the best of examples. Please let us try to maintain an atmosphere of prayer before Mass. Remember what I always say - "talk to God before Mass and to your friends afterwards"!!

God Bless.

UNDERSTANDING THE REVISED MASS TEXTS

More of the special booklets have been ordered, and it encouraging to see how many have been sold, as it is now only three weeks before we start to use the new Mass. Make sure you get yourself a copy! Just £1 each!

FEAST OF ST GREGORY THE GREAT - Sunday, September 4th

As usual we shall be celebrating our Feast of Title on the Sunday nearest to the feast. At Mass - which is at 11 am on the Sunday morning - our Eucharistic Ministers will be re-commissioned and our 1st Communion Children will lead the Procession of the Blessed Sacrament at the end of Mass. Please make a note of the date and time now, and sign the lists in the porch if you can help out on the day with gifts of food or your time! Many thanks - so let's really make this a joyful family occasion.

1st RECONCILIATION AND 1st HOLY COMMUNION

Parents of children hoping to make their 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion in 2011/2012 are asked to collect a registration form from the church porch and to return the completed application to the Presbytery as soon as possible. Forms are for children who will be in Year 3 (or above) from September 2011.

DON'T FORGET! THERE IS COFFEE IN THE PARISH HALL AFTER THE MORNING MASS ON SUNDAY.
SEE YOU THERE!!
