VICTORY WITH CHRIST

Today's celebration should raise our morale in the fight
against evil. Christ our Leader, who came to bring fire on earth:
communicates to us something of his tremendous zeal.

Holy Hour and Benediction

My Dear Friends,

The time of Holy Communion, when we come forward to receive the Body and Blood of our Saviour Jesus Christ, is one of the most important moments in the whole of the Sacrifice of the Mass. It MUST be a time of prayer and stillness, an opportunity for all of us to meditate on what it is that we receive, and give thanks to Almighty God for his goodness to us.

Sadly this is not always the case here at St Gregory the Great and recently I have been particularly distressed to see people even chatting to one another in the queue for communion! This is quite unacceptable I'm afraid. Please let us work together to make this a prayerful moment during which we may all appreciate the solemnity of God's gracious gift.

Many thanks to those of you who have already returned your Red Mission Boxes to the presbytery or church. If you have a Red Box at home please bring it along as soon as possible: please do not be tempted to leave them in the porch!

On Monday week, the Bank Holiday, we shall be having a parish 'working party' around the church, so that everything may be just so for our festival weekend. There is also a meeting in the church hall this Monday evening at 8 pm for anyone who can help on the day itself.

Don't forget that the morning Mass on Sunday 2nd September will be at 11 am!!

God Bless.

OUR PATRONAL FESTIVAL

2nd September 2007. Help is required in organising this special day. There will be a meeting in the hall at 8 pm on Monday 20th August for all who can help out. Do consider coming along. MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK!!

THE MONDAY CLUB

Unfortunately we are having to look for a new co-ordinator for the Monday Club. If you are able to take on this important role speak to Fr Dennis or Gillian as soon as possible. If no-one comes forward it may be very difficult for the club to open, so please do consider this matter very seriously.

1st RECONCILIATION AND 1st HOLY COMMUNION

Parents of children hoping to make their 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion in 2007/2008 are asked to collect a registration form from the church porch and to return the completed application to the Presbytery before 16th September. These forms are for children who will be in Year 3 (or above) from September 2007.

THERE IS COFFEE IN THE PARISH HALL AFTER THE MORNING MASS ON SUNDAY, DO COME AND JOIN US!!
