PETER THE ROCK

We rejoice today that Christ chose Peter, in spite
of his human failings, to be the rock on which he built
his Church. The reason for that choice lies in the
unfathomable depth of God's wisdom

My Dear Friends,

Our parish trip to the shrine of Our Lady at Walsingham (Sat 3rd September) will be leaving at 7.45 am - promptly. Please note that we cannot afford to leave later than that as the Solemn Mass is at 12 noon and we have a long way to go and we must not be late. There will a brief 'comfort' stop if time allows.

Please be sure to bring with you a packed lunch and your fare!! The price of the coach (£10 each for non servers) will be collected on the bus - though if you wish to pay in advance please feel free to do so. Office hours only so that Gillian can keep a record!!

Might I remind anyone who made their Confirmation this summer and has not yet collected their gift copy of "YouCat", a special catechism for young people, to do so after Mass.

Finally just a reminder about our day of festival. We still need lots of help for this important parish day and the lists are still in the porch. The social committee have asked me to remind everyone that there are no facilities for cooking food on the day!! PLEASE, do consider helping to make this a wonderful celebration.

May I remind all Special Ministers of the Eucharist that they will be renewing their pledge of service at this Mass and it is therefore of the greatest importance for them.

God Bless.

UNDERSTANDING THE REVISED MASS TEXTS

More of the special booklets are now on sale in the church porch. It is very encouraging to see how many have been sold, as it is now only two weeks before we start to use the new Mass. Make sure you get yourself a copy! Just £1 each!

FEAST OF ST GREGORY THE GREAT - Sunday, September 4th

As usual we shall be celebrating our Feast of Title on the Sunday nearest to the feast. At Mass - which is at 11 am on the Sunday morning - our Eucharistic Ministers will be re-commissioned and our 1st Communion Children will lead the Procession of the Blessed Sacrament at the end of Mass. Please make a note of the date and time now, and sign the lists in the porch if you can help out on the day with gifts of food or your time! Many thanks - so let's really make this a joyful family occasion.

1st RECONCILIATION AND 1st HOLY COMMUNION

Parents of children hoping to make their 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion in 2011/2012 are asked to collect a registration form from the church porch and to return the completed application to the Presbytery as soon as possible. Forms are for children who will be in Year 3 (or above) from September 2011.

DON'T FORGET! THERE IS COFFEE IN THE PARISH HALL AFTER THE MORNING MASS ON SUNDAY.
SEE YOU THERE!!
