OUR FORGIVING LORD

We cannot celebrate today the Lord of compassion
and love, the Lord who died for us and who
lives intercede for us, unless each of us has
forgiven his brother or sister from his heart.

My Dear Friends,

RACIAL JUSTICE SUNDAY - a time for all of us to reflect on racial justice and to pray for a Christian response. There will be a retiring collection to fund the vital work of the Catholic Association for Racial Justice

What a magnificent 'day of festival' we celebrated last Sunday. I'm not entirely sure how many people were at the morning Mass, but certainly it was standing room only. The weather was truly dreadful but that didn't seem to bother most people and certainly not our youngsters!! I know I enjoyed myself and hope you did as well?

However such events do not merely happen and a great deal of work has to be done both before, during and after! Thank you - all of you - who made the day so glorious and who worked so very hard.

Finally, it may already have been drawn to your attention that a key resolution of the Catholic Bishops Conference is to re-establish the practice of Friday penance in our lives as a clear and distinctive mark of our Catholic identity. This common act of witness comes into effect from next Friday.

There is not space here to go into this more fully, but I have prepared a handout about this important development which is available for you to take home. Please be sure to get one.

God Bless.
