The Parable of Dives and Lazarus

BEHOLD THE MAN!

It is our purple and fine linen, our life of ease and our love of wealth,
that is mocked today by Christ, who in the presence of Pilate stood
like a Lazarus covered with sores and spoke up as a witness for the truth.

My Dear Friends,

Barry Jansen has asked me to announce that as the "retiring" Confirmation coordinator he will be running a course on Sun. 14th Oct from 3 to 5.00pm for ALL those who would like to help this year - i.e. those who helped last year and are able to continue, and those who have spoken to me recently. Please let Barry know you're coming by entering name and contact details on the list in the Church porch.

Next Friday is the Harvest Family Fast Day and next weekend we shall be keeping the harvest here in church. CAFOD envelopes are available in church this weekend. Please share what you can with poor communities in the developing world. Don't forget to fill in the gift aid slip if you are a taxpayer.

A new booklet of daily meditations and group reflections is on sale in the porch called, "Sharing in His Life" and is an opportunity for us as individuals, or in small prayer groups, to explore the scriptures, and to develop our understanding of our faith. They cost £1 and are quite excellent. I do hope we will use them actively to foster prayer in our community.

Furthermore if there is a group of people who would wish to use the book communally through prayer and study, I would be very happy to give them my support and help.

God Bless.
