My Dear Friends,

Our 10 am Mass this weekend is our celebration of the harvest. It is our opportunity to give thanks to Almighty God for his many precious gifts to us. In the light of his generosity we ask ourselves how can I help to relieve the sufferings of those who have little?

An obvious answer is, of course, CAFOD. By giving to this well known Catholic agency we are assured that our giving is well used.

From this weekend, a new booklet of daily meditations and group reflections is on sale in the porch. It is called "God is Love" and is an opportunity for us as individuals, or in small prayer groups, to explore the Sunday scriptures, to grow in faith and to develop our understanding of our Catholic faith. They cost just £1 and are quite excellent. I do hope we will use them actively to foster prayer in our community.

Furthermore if there is a group [or groups] of people who would wish to use the book communally through prayer and study, I would be very happy to give them my support and help in starting up such a group.

God Bless.
