CHRIST INTERCEDING FOR US

Christ who 'opened his arms on the cross' is like
Moses whose arms were raised in prayer for his
people. Today Christ asks us to join him in
continual prayer and never to lose heart.

My Dear Friends,

One of the most moving events of the Holy Father's recent State Visit was the vigil of prayer and praise at Hyde Park. And who among us can easily forget that amazing image of some 80,000 people gathered in stillness before Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. A powerful witness indeed to the real need within our world for the sacred and the true.

But it was also a time of fun and joy, of laughter and song, and all of this was experienced by a number of the young people from our parish who went along on our behalf. I've asked them to "report back" to us this weekend and they have happily agreed to do so.

They will speak to us at every Mass and will share with us their joy at meeting His Holiness. There will also be a collection at the end of Mass to help defray the final cost of Pope Benedict's visit - thank you for your generosity.

Finally I would like to draw to your attention to a concert in support of the Lourdes Pilgrimage to be held at Our Lady of Victories church in Kensington. This is to be a performance of Mozart's Requiem Mass. A stunning piece which to be performed in the presence of the Archbishop.

If you would like tickets for the concert and also for the reception that will follow, speak to me. The prices are on the poster in the porch. Please consider supporting this wonderful event.

God Bless.
