CHRIST THE KING
Christ is a King on the model of the Homeric kings
who called themselves 'shepherd of the people'.
As a royal shepherd he is leading us to

My Dear Friends,

I want to share with you a wonderful new initiative (The Posada) proposed for our parish, by two of our young mums. They write:

During Advent, and as part of our preparations for Christmas, we would like to introduce a special tradition which will give us an opportunity to reflect prayerfully on what Advent truly means for each of us.

Nativity figures of Mary and Joseph will make a journey round the homes of our parish, and will be spend each night in a different home.

They will start their journey on the 1st Sunday of Advent, when during the 10 am Mass, Father Dennis will bless the figures and everything needed for the journey. The first household will take the Holy Family to their home and the "travelling Nativity" will spend the night with them. They will arrange with the next household in the chain a suitable time to continue the "travels" of Mary and Joseph and, perhaps, write a prayer to pass on.

Thus the figures will travel from house to house and will arrive back at our church during the Midnight Mass.

I think this is a wonderful idea and do hope that many members of our parish will get involved. Special leaflets with all the details are available at the end of Mass, so be sure to take one home. Truly let us, in this way, prepare prayerfully and joyfully for the arrival of the infant King!!

God Bless.

AN EVENING OF JOSEPH HAYDN MUSIC IN AID OF THE LOURDES FUND

To be held at the church of Our Lady of Victories in Kensington on Friday 25th November at 7.30 pm and to be performed by the University College Orchestra. The Archbishop will be in attendance and there will be a champagne reception in the crypt afterwards. If you would like tickets for the concert and also for the reception, either speak to me, or to Zoe Dacouta whose number is on the poster in the porch.

THE GIVING TREE - CAN YOU HELP?

Once again we hope to place The Giving Tree in the church porch this year. This simple, yet practical initiative, allows all of us to reach out to the needy at Christmas and is always very popular and wonderfully well supported. But help is needed to organize the tree and deliver gifts this year? COULD THIS BE YOU? Please consider giving a little of your time to make it happen. Speak to Fr Dennis or Mrs Theresa Sullivan ASAP!

DON'T FORGET! THERE IS COFFEE IN THE PARISH HALL AFTER THE MORNING MASS ON SUNDAY.
SEE YOU THERE!!
