THE JOY OF EXPECTANCY

At his coming Christ fulfilled the expectations of the prophets.
He made the blind see and the lame walk. We must not lose heart,
in the face of all the evils of the world, for we to have a glorious expectation!

My Dear Friends,

Next Sunday afternoon we shall be having our Christmas Carol Service at 3.00 pm and this will be followed by a mince pie in the parish hall! I do hope that a number of us will be able to come along for this delightful service as part of our preparation for Christmas.

Our "Giving Tree" in the church porch has not received as much attention this year as it deserves, and I suspect that this is due, in part, to the huge number of other things that have been on sale this year. Do consider taking a tag from the tree and buying a small gift for the charities that our tree supports - if at all possible the gifts should be under the tree by next weekend for delivery by Christmas.

I would also like to encourage you to consider - buying a bauble! A simple way for us to pray for those we love both here and in Lourdes, details further down this page.

Finally I have been asked to write to you about a special Thanksgiving Mass for the Sacrament of Marriage at our cathedral next May. This Mass, to be celebrated by the Cardinal, will be for those couples celebrating 25, 30, 40, 50 or 60 years of marriage. If you would like to be included - let me have your names, and he details of your anniversary

God Bless.

DEANERY SERVICES OF RECONCILIATION

Confession should be an integral part of our preparation for Christmas. To help us with this, there are to be two special services of Reconciliation on Monday at the Sacred Heart, and at Hayes on Thursday. Both to be at 7.30 pm.

BUY A BAUBLE

Please place the persons name you would like prayed for in Lourdes on a piece of paper and enclose it with your donation of £5 in an envelope and return it to the Presbytery at your earliest convenience. A bauble with the name on will be placed on our Christmas Tree in Church and all the names will be brought to the Grotto in Lourdes by our Red Caps.

A CHRISTMAS CONCERT OF CAROLS AND READINGS

at St James' Church, Spanish Place on Monday 17th December 7.30 pm In aid of the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes Timothy West, Alex Young and a host of other stars. Further details and how to book: in the porch.
