MARY'S CHILD: THE EMMANUEL

God's choice rested on the House of David which was to bring forth
the Emmanuel, the God-with-us. But Mary's child was to belong to
all the nations. We are one of those nations who, by God's call,
belong to Jesus Christ.

My Dear Friends,

This Sunday afternoon we shall be having our Christmas Carol Service at 3.00 pm and this will be followed, I hope, by a get-together in the hall! I do hope that many of us will be able to come along for this service as part of our preparation for Christmas.

The day after Christmas Day is St Stephen's Day - the patron saint of altar servers. We are very blessed here at St. Greg's in having a growing 'army' of servers.

This is the day when those who have been training over the last months to become formally enrolled and receive their medals. Do come and support them and join us for a cup of coffee and a mince pie (if you can face just one more!) after the Mass of St Stephen on Boxing Day morning.

My prayer for us all at this time of year is that we may all have a truly holy and blessed Christmas, and that we may welcome the Christ child into our hearts and homes. May Christ be the unseen guest at your table.

Finally I include again in the newsletter this notice about a special Thanksgiving Mass for the Sacrament of Marriage at our cathedral next May. This Mass, to be celebrated by the Cardinal, will be for those couples celebrating 25, 30, 40, 50 or 60 years of marriage. If you would like to be included - let me have your names, and the details of your anniversary, as soon as possible.

God Bless.
