My Dear Friends,
Tuesday of this week is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord (also known as Candlemass). There will be Mass here at 10 am and a further Mass at St Swithun Wells school at 11 am. This day of celebration brings to an end the season of the Incarnation and the "crib" will be gone by next weekend. Do take the opportunity of paying a last visit to pray and to give thanks.
The traditional Blessing of Throats, for the feast of St. Blaise, will be given at the end of Mass on Wednesday.
The Archbishop is once again inviting all couples who are celebrating a special wedding anniversary this year (10th, 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th or more) to join him at the cathedral on 22nd May at 3 pm for a Mass of Thanksgiving for the Sacrament of Marriage.
If you are interested in being there please don't delay in telling me, so that I may apply for tickets on your behalf. I will need your names, wedding date, full postal address and telephone number or email. This Mass was hugely oversubscribed last year; so if you're interested, and to avoid disappointment, let me know a.s.a.p!!
God Bless.

FEAST OF ST BLASE
As a result of the wonderful cure of a boy who had a fishbone in his throat and who was in danger of choking to death, it is St Blase whom we invoke for the traditional blessing of throats. This blessing will be given at the end of the Wednesday morning Mass; his feast day.
