"Mothering Sunday"

The Lord who welcomes Sinners

We celebrate this Mass in the joy of forgiveness,
and gratefully eat the manna, the food that our Father
gives us for our journey to the kingdom
where his banquet is prepared for us.

My Dear Friends,

Today is "Mothering Sunday" -the day on which we give thanks to Almighty God for our own dear mum, our mother the Church, and our Blessed Lady, Mary the Mother of God. Let us not forget to honour all of them on this, their special day.

On Monday 26th March the Union of Catholic Mothers will be making the Stations of the Cross at St. Matthew's Northwood (7.30 pm). Do join them for this devotion and a cup of coffee afterwards.

Once again this year, there will be the opportunity for us to remember our loved ones at the altar of repose on Maundy Thursday, through our "Lilies of Remembrance". Please write the name of the individual or couple you wish to be remembered on the list that will be at the back of church next weekend. Please also take an envelope for your donation, and return it to the presbytery or to Mass.

A vitally important element of Lent is repentance ~ saying we are sorry to God ~ Confession. Sadly this is one of the most neglected areas of our lives. To pretend that we are ready for Easter, without having put things right with God, is simply to be unprepared! I do hope we will all avail ourselves of the Sacrament in the next few weeks. The times of reconciliation services will be published in the newsletter soon.

God Bless.
