Passiontide

The Lord who has wiped out our past sinfulness

The utter completeness of Christ's forgiveness is almost
incredible. When he says to us "Neither do I condemn you",
the past is dead, forgotten. Laughter and song fill our hearts.
It seems like a dream.

Holy Hour and Benediction

My Dear Friends,

You cannot fail to have noticed that the crosses, statues and pictures in our church are now veiled. The season of Lent now enters its most solemn stage as we begin Passiontide. The Church asks us to focus our thoughts and prayers more closely on the altar, where each time the Mass is offered, the Sacrifice of the Cross is renewed, and the saving action of Christ's death is brought afresh into the present moment.

As part of our preparation for Easter, services of Reconciliation have been arranged at Botwell this Wednesday evening and at the Sacred Heart on Monday of Holy Week; both are at 7.30 pm. I cannot stress too highly how the importance this is for us as Catholics. We are all called to be reconciled to the Father before we keep the feast.

As mentioned last week, there will be the opportunity for us to remember our loved ones at the altar of repose on Maundy Thursday, through our "Lilies of Remembrance". Please write the name of the individual or couple you wish to be remembered clearly on the list at the back of church and take an envelope for your donation. Please return this either to the presbytery or at Mass as soon as possible.

God Bless.
