The Advent Wreath

The Joy Of Salvation.

We celebrate the marvels God has worked for us in sending
us his mercy and forgiveness, and calling us to share his glory.
We await with joyful hope that
"Day of the Lord"
when his work in us will be complete.

My Dear Friends,

A number of parishioners have been asking about our Christmas services and how our 'obligation' to be at Mass is affected by Christmas being on a Monday!

Naturally this makes for a very busy few days for us all! Well, the expectation of the Church is as follows:-

As Catholics we are 'obliged' to be at Mass on Sunday and on every Holy Day of Obligation, of which Christmas Day is one. However as there will be no 6 pm Mass on Sunday 24th there will only be two opportunities to go to Mass on that day. Going to the 1st Mass of Christmas at 7 pm does not fulfil our obligation for the Sunday I'm afraid! Equally the 5.30 pm Mass on Saturday 23rd does not fulfil our Christmas obligation.

I hope this sorts out any confusion?

Next week Sunday we shall be having our Christmas Carol Service at 3.30 pm followed by a mince pie! We shall also be taking up, at all Masses, the annual collection for "Sick and Retired Priests". It is so important that we care for those faithful priests who have served us over many years, so please do take an envelope at the end of Mass today.

God Bless.

CHRISTMAS DRAW

Sunday 17th December. Please take some tickets to sell. Also, do you work somewhere where they could donate a suitable prize? Do you fancy baking a Christmas Cake? We are looking for suitable prizes; if you have anything please contact Gillian at the presbytery or on 8845 2390

SENIOR CITIZENS' CHRISTMAS PARTY

There is a list in the porch for all those who wish to attend this event - Monday 18th. Please sign it today if you wish to be included!

"BUY A BAUBLE"

A group of youngsters from our parish are travelling to Lourdes to volunteer as Red Caps next July. If you would like to have someone remembered whilst they are there, how about buying a bauble for £5. The name of the person you want prayed for will be written on the bauble and placed on our Christmas tree. The youngsters will take the names with them to Lourdes and they will all be remembered at the Grotto. Letters will be given out after mass with full details.

DON'T FORGET! THERE IS COFFEE IN THE PARISH HALL AFTER THE MORNING MASS ON SUNDAY.
SEE YOU THERE!!
