Corpus Christi

THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST
The old covenant was sealed with the blood of the

My Dear Friends,

Today we celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi: the body of Christ; sacramentally given to us as food. We are commemorating the night, when Jesus gathered his disciples together and assured them, in the breaking of bread and the sharing of wine, that he would continue to be present among them until the end of time. This is the promise we celebrate at every Mass.

When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim that we are the body of Christ alive in this world. Jesus offers his body and blood as nourishment so that we may truly become what we eat. So let us rejoice on this wonderful festival day and allow our lives to be ennobled and divine by the sacred food we eat.

It is our great joy to welcome Bp. Alan Hopes to the parish this Sunday to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation.

There are 28 candidates this year, one of the largest groups we have ever had!! Please keep them and their families in your prayers as these young adults make their own affirmation of faith.

God Bless.

"THE WESTMINSTER RECORD"

From this month onwards you will find on sale in the porch "The Westminster Record". This excellent newspaper is full of news and information about our own diocese. We have not taken it for many year now but it has been decided to make it available again. There are a mere 25 copies at 20 pence each. If they do not sell, which would be a great shame, they will be discontinued.

ST SWITHUN WELLS

has space in their nursery for children born between 1st September 2005 and 31st August 2006. If you or you know of anyone who requires a nursery place to commence in September 2009/January 2010, please contact the school office on 01895 671960 for an application form.

DON'T FORGET! THERE IS COFFEE IN THE PARISH HALL AFTER THE MORNING MASS ON SUNDAY.
SEE YOU THERE!!
