My Dear Friends,

Monday of this coming week is the feast of the "Baptism of the Lord" and brings to an end the formal Christmas season and our tree etc., will be taken down. The crib however will remain in place until the "Feast of Candlemass" (February 2nd) in line with our Cathedral and St Peter's in Rome. It will help us to continue to focus on the wonder of the Incarnation as well as to remember the needs of the Catholic Children's Society whose "Crib Appeal" we support every year.

Next weekend is the annual 'white flower' appeal. This annual collection allows us to do something to assist those who are working to wipe out the wickedness of abortion in our 'civilised' society.

It will also be Peace Sunday, which offers us the opportunity to reflect on the Holy Father's World Peace Day Message. The full text may be read at www.paxchristi.org.uk

Pax Christi, the international Catholic movement for peace, has a vision of a world where people can live in peace, without fear of violence in all its forms; a vision to hold before us at all times, and to pray about especially next weekend!

God Bless.
